RockyHydro specializes in carefully matching a turbine and generator to provide the most efficient system possible for your stream. There is no "one size fits all" in micro-hydro, which is why we have over 400 different systems to choose from; one is right for you. We only use durable and high-quality components in our systems, such as brushless permanent magnet generators. Brushes cause sparks, noise, major maintenance issues, and a loss of efficiency. Matching your site to the correct system is critical. Impulse turbines work most efficiently when spinning at 48% of the velocity of the water jet hitting them. This is the "Target RPM". The generator needs to produce the amount of energy that your stream is capable of producing at that RPM. You can CONTACT US with your elevation drop, and flow rate (gallons per minute) and we can calculate your target RPM for you and find the perfect matching generator, or you can view the following pages to choose a system that matches the common situations below-
 Low Head Systems (Elevation drop ranges from 5 to 30 feet, and flow ranges from 15 to 110 gallons per minute)
 Smaller High Head Systems (Elevation drop ranges from 30 feet to 100 feet, and flow ranges from 3 gallons per minute to 60 gallons per minute)
 Larger High Head Systems (The sky is the limit here. These custom systems are carefully matched to your site and many will produce thousands and thousands of dollars worth of electricity per year.)

Most of our systems can be purchased as a kit. You would receive the proper and highly efficent generator from us with a matching turbine chosen specifically for your site. Then you can build the housing yourself. If you would like us to build the housing and align the nozzles, we offer heavy duty welded aluminum housing for $300. We assemble the system, align and attach the nozzles and the proper angle, then disassemble the system for shipping. Re-assembly is simple and straightforward, and most of our customers actually really enjoy putting everything together.
